"Alternately..." Plot Information/Plotting Post

Technically, Mod #1 is on hiatus, but that doesn't mean we're just going to leave you hanging without Weird Stuff happening in game. C'mon. Where's the fun in nothing happening? That's right, there isn't.

That being said, how's everyone settling into Wechester City? We know you miss Beachville, and we're sorry that any attempts to get back to it on the subway end in you being at the main stop on the line, but at least you have your memories of it, right?

And no, that isn't our way of hinting at some memory loss plot. Sort of. Just read on. Hopefully, thing's will make sense.

We've all heard people say that the smallest things can affect our lives in significant ways. Turning left when you usually turn right, and who knows what kind of adventure (or misadventure) you'll find yourself on. Saying 'yes' to something, instead of saying 'no.' Or even being born in a different situation (a boy instead of a girl, born into a different universe and family entirely). And isn't it amazing how other people's choices can affect your life?

But what if, hear us out but just what if?

And that's just the basis of this plot. The essence of it. What you'd get if it were boiled down to it's most basic elements.

What if?

What if, indeed? What if you were born into a different universe? What if you never got yourself out of that bad situation that really affected the whole of your being? What if that bad situation never happened to begin with?

Do you see what we're getting at?

This plot isn't going to be a short plot. There have to be shenanigans first, otherwise this wouldn't be Fluxscape. And we're giving you three weeks time to plot for this, to really get those details solid and set in stone and, if you have to (or if you want to), to make a new journal just for this!

Starting November 5th, characters will start having trouble getting places. Doors will lead to the wrong place entirely or double back and you'll find yourself still outside or back in the room you were trying to leave. Other times, doors will vanish entirely. There might even be the random occasion where you end up in a dangerous situation say, almost stepping out into a very long elevator shaft, or into one of the cages at the zoo, or even falling into one of the exhibits at the aquarium.

Or the situation could end up funny. If you've ever wanted to see what the kitchen at Seafood Shack looks like, this is your chance, though let's be fair; the cooks won't want you there and will not-so-kindly ask that you leave. Which eventually you will, but remember the problem with the doors.

This will go on until the 8th of November where everything will be back to normal, until the 10th of November.

That's when things will start to get a little weird. Your character will experience very weird moments of switching back and forth between the person they are now, and that person you plotted out for their alternate self. These will be literal seconds of their time that either they'd vaguely remember for a minute or two, or not be aware of at all. For any physical changes, that won't be happening just yet. They'll walk past a mirror and see something odd but when they turn to look, it's them as they are.

On November 15th, this is when the plot goes into full effect. Your character will wake up their Alternate Selves and, much like everyone says in Wechester City, that's how they've always been. Your character knows nothing about who they're supposed to be, they know who they are now and that's who they've always been.

Example:

Evie Grimhilde wakes up Evie Prince-Wayne, daughter of Diana Prince and Bruce Wayne. If asked about Evie Grimhilde, she'll have no idea who that is because she's always been Evie Wayne.

Eugene Sims never got his Conduit abilities. If asked about his wings, he'll look at you like you've lost your damn mind and walk away.

Because this is who they've always been. Much like that store you love that's supposed to be on Sixth Avenue is suddenly on La Fayette Way, but the owner insists it's always been on La Fayette.

You get it, right? Cool.

This plot will run until November 22nd. At midnight at that time, people will be woken up or startled by what sounds like a great slamming of doors and a cacophonous rush of whispered voices, some familiar and some unfamiliar. It's hard to make out what they're saying, you're pretty sure you hear yourself in there, and for anyone with psychic abilities they'll notice there's a Change of some kind in the air. And then you'll be yourself again in a blink, with all of the memories of who you were during the last week.

A Timeline For Those That Find Them Useful (like Mod #1):

November 5th through the 8th: Doors leading to wherever they feel like it, or vanishing entirely. How long they vanish is entirely up to you, but consider the hilarity of being stuck in someone elses space for hours on end. Could be a fun way to make friends, right?

November 9th: A day of rest. Surely, that's as weird as it gets, right?

November 10th to the 15th: Hey you remember that time where that thing that I'm sure that happened actually didn't? No? Neither do I. Also, who was that person in the mirror? Oh, it's just me. Weird.

November 15th to November 22nd:

Alternately You. That's the best I have to describe that.

Plot below! If you plan on making a different journal for this, let us know so we can add them to the comms for this event. It's not mandatory. Like...at all. But go for it, if you want.

While the doors are broken:

On the final day of the event, after going through a lot of bs until then, she will be out on patrol as Ghost Spider. She'll stop a few muggings, save the day here and there, get a sandwich at one of the fun corner stores and head home.

The front door of her house will lead to the elevator shaft of Wechester Towers and after a brutal free-fall for a bit wherein she'll smack into everything on the way down and end up with a concussion and broken right forearm, she'll catch herself with her webshooters.

She'll get herself out. It's fine. When she tries the doors of the elevator shaft she'll find herself in Wechester Lobby as she'll have hit the very end of that event timewise.

Alternately:

As in the Alternate Universe Plot.

This crap. Her AU being shortly after getting her Spider-Powers, she couldn't save her dad. She lost him. Met Venom shortly thereafter and decided to bond with it to be stronger. She's very very tired of losing people, see, and Venom offered her the chance to save everyone from here on out.

She has been Venom for the better part of her Hero career. They're balanced fairly evenly with Gwen having more control than the symbiote, but...occasionally, teeth and claws can and will come out. Especially in regards to protecting her boyfriend. Don't even look at him sideways.

While the doors are broken:

Evie's going to get trapped at work, trapped inside her own bedroom. All manner of places. Give her somewhere awkward to find herself, please and thank you!

Alternately Event:

Evie Grimhilde? Nah, fam. This is Evie Prince-Wayne. Daughter of Bruce Wayne/Batman and the one and only Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. She's a fiercely indepentant young woman who only recently became Minyades, her hero alter ego. She sold custom clothing at Private School starting at 14 years of age and when she was nineteen she had a small castle custom built. She's trying really hard to study to be a doctor and open an affordable childrens hospital in Gotham.

Six (Temporary) Items:
Her mothers Lasso of Hestia, her collapsing shield, her Minyades attire, a picture of 4 year old her and her parents and Alfred.

Gansey and Evie need to have late night talks about cute people he's sighing over and if he should become a super hero or not.

I could see Gansey learning self-defense, hand to hand combat, archery, and sword fighting.

Maybe Diana is kind of an aunt to him? She would be so fascinating to him. They could talk about history and mythology. He spent a few years in awe of her because he's bitty and she's AMAZING.

While the doors are broken:

Honestly, at this point, Billy is used to things being weird af. First monsters from another dimension, then gaining super powers, now he's in an entirely different world. So doors playing up? It must be Tuesday. He's usually able to find his way back to where he wants to; it's a perk of his abilities.

Alternately:

For the sake of the AU, Billy is basically just going to take Eleven's place in the series. He was kidnapped and raised in the lab by Dr. Brenner as an experiment because of his abilities. When he escaped, he was found by Nancy, Steve, Tommy H. and Carol who were out looking for their missing friend Barb. Because of his tattoo designating him B11, they named him Billy.

Aw, adopted already!

Oh, for the sake of this au, Billy will be his 17 year old self from canon.

Not sure how much they will interact, but if Agatha finds out he grew up in a lab as an experiment, she'll have stories to share!

Okay so fundamentally... Agatha will not seem all that different to those who do not know her well.

Her what if basically boils down to: what if her mother didn't escape when she tried to fake her own death. What if she was "rescued".

Agatha would have actually grown up in the Castle - which would have been repaired - and would have known her father. Her mother would have vanished at some point while Agatha was young, and the war with the Other would be on slow burn. But... She was raised by her father, her uncle, the Castle, the Jägers, and Punch and Judy. A happy childhood full of love, mad science, and adventure! She would be raised more or less like a princess, but a princess in a world where princess lessons have nothing to do with proper bows and grammar, and everything to do with blowing things up and SCIENCE! Or as Agatha says in canon "oh, that kind of princess".

So yeah, she'll be a little happier, a little more open, a little more secure in her skin. A LOT changed in her backstory because of that one little change, but it really didn't change much of the core of who she is.

She won't be daydreaming of a "normal" life, and she won't be as driven, because there is nothing huge and world ending going on at home. She'll accept being called a hero, and enjoy earning that. But... that's about it for changes. She'll still be doing SCIENCE! whenever she can, and won't be bothered by explosions. The focus of her experiments might change, but not really by all that much.

And not that it will change anything, but she's probably been to Skiffander, because I know her father and Uncle would have found and rescued Zeetha. So she's got some warrior training there still, though not as much as she gets from being Zeetha's one and only student. Mostly she fights the way her father and uncle do. Heroic Freestyle.

November 5 - 8: Can be stuck in any door people would like. Or peoples, depending on who wants to join in.

Novemer 15 - 22: Alternate Bruce Wayne is now here. DUN DUN DUN.

🦇 BRUCE WAYNE (AU)
- Still based off the DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE but this time he has some softer pieces to him thanks to inspiration from the DC ANIMATED UNIVERSE.
- Met Diana Prince as a much younger vigilante and eventually entered a relationship with her (at her insistence most likely)
- Diana and Bruce have one daughter, Evie (

minyades) and any other adopted/biological children that other people would like!
- At some point he actually fixed Wayne Manor Thank God.

- Events of Man of Steel namely play out the same. Superman and Zod trash Metropolis.
- Bruce is less gun-ho crazy to kill Superman and is more trying to confront and get him to conform, so the majority of Batman V Superman remains the same. The two fight. Doomsday shows up. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman fight Doomsday. Superman dies (MUH SADS).
- Bruce still has the information from Lex Luthor in Batman V Superman and is working with Diana Prince to set up the early formation of the Justice League. Therefore events seen in Suicide Squad remain the same.

He's basically a nicer more typical Bruce Wayne who is obviously a middle-aged Dad. Tired, worn down, but still pushing forward.

A few ideas for Gansey being adopted. Nothing is really set other than he's part of the Bat Fam.

Maybe Gansey and his family were attacked during some Gotham villain crazy. His parents and sister die. Gansey almost dies, but Batman saves him. Bruce knew the Ganseys and knows Gansey is going to be Traumatized and no one will understand him or be able to really help. So Bruce ends up with another kid.

Gansey's actually really well adjusted considering. He has his panic attacks, his obsessions that keep him steady. He glomps onto Alfred as a sort of father figure too and a mentor (like Malory in the books). He finds a balance between Bat Fam and trying to be a normal child/teenager. He trains to become a hero of some sort while also learning the behind the scenes stuff to help the others. He just hasn't decided what role he wants yet. Also, it's Gotham. He's Bruce Wayne's adopted son. He needs to know how to defend himself.

At first, he was wary of Evie, afraid that getting too close to her would mean he's forgetting his sister, Helen. Eventually she becomes family too when he realizes that it doesn't mean he's replacing one sister for another. (Will add more later if there's more adopted Bat Kids).

As part of trying to have a normal life, he goes to a private school in Virginia. (It also gives him a chance to get helpful connections to obnoxious, rich future business leaders.) He's the King of the school, on the rowing and swim teams, has friends there but not as close as in TRC coz Secrets. He gets dragged back into the Bat world when the Batman V Superman stuff happens and ends up back in Gotham.

I LIKE..... really adore all this.

Blue Sargent

11/5 - 11/8 : Anyone can feel free to find themselves walking out of doors in her apartment -- much to her surprise and chagrin. I don't plan on doing anything too wild here, just doors leading to strange places, or simply leading to absolutely nowhere. (add that to her list of conspiracies!)

11/10 - 11/15 : Blue will have moments where she seems to just completely forget everyone that knows her (this is especially weird with The Gangsey.), she'll find things familiar and not know why (mostly foods and things around the city that remind her of New York.). Basic mind-fuckery until things change over completely.

Alternately You Event : (copypasta from my plurk mostly ) To put things as simple as possible, MCU AU. Blue was actually born not only as an amplifier but also with the power of tactile absorption. This is kind of a twist on her whole killing curse. she can absorb people's powers/abilites through touch if they have any, and any skin-to-skin contact slowly drains the other person's energy/life. (Basically Rogue's powers from X-Men.) Her amplification works against this and Blue can very easily become overpowered if she stays in contact with someone for too long -- which usually causes her to pass out after her powers go haywire.
Blue still lives the same life as she does in the books, save for moving to Henrietta. The ladies of Fox Way never find their way to Virginia, and they instead go a lot further north to where everything in the MCU happens: New York City. They still do their psychic readings (with Blue sitting in to help amplify energy.) and Blue does a little vigilantee stuff in her borough (She calls herself The Witch) nothing too ridiculous, she's still a pretty low-level hero. She attends Midtown School of Science and Technology focusing on Environmental Science, and still makes all her own clothes in her downtime.

six items : black fingerless gloves, all-black catsuit/bodysuit (still handmade from multiple different fabrics), a sketchbook of designs (with the Midtown logo on the cover.), a packet of homework, a deck of tarot cards, her student ID.

Other Plots/Ideas : I'm really up for anything! Throw some ideas my way and we'll see what we can make stick.

Gansey's going to be part of the Bat Fam and trying out the whole superhero thing to see if it fits him. He'll probably be on the rooftops occasionally and exploring different areas of the city. He might meet the Witch somewhere.

Since he's Bruce's son, they'd probably meet at the Wechester building if she's working there.

Number Five

11/5 - 11/8 : See the same note above! Five will just be annoyed af about the fact that the doors are all messed up, he'll end up jumping from place to place rather than trying to use the doors.

11/9 - 11/15 : There will be points in time when Five doesn't remember growing up in The Umbrella Academy or any of his siblings. There will also be points when he's completely surprised by his powers, but they'll fade pretty quickly

Alternately You Event : (another copypasta from my plurk) Basically all the same timeline as the original, except that Five never ends up stranded in the future, never witnesses the Apocalypse, stays at The Umbrella Academy until Ben dies and that's when he leaves to go make his own life. Because he never time-traveled to the future, he only knows that he has the ability to time travel, but because Hargreeves never thought he was ready to learn, he never taught him how and Five never thought to teach himself. Five goes about his life as normal -- normal job, normal life, basically the same as his siblings, nothing too fantastical here. He's still well known as a member of The Umbrella Academy in his world, yadda yadda.
Reginald still dies and that's what brings the Hargreeves' kids back together, they go into the apocalypse blind and as far as Five knows, it was his arrival in Wechester that turned him into a 13-year-old again.

November 5th through the 8th: Gansey could show up in other people's places, but the doors to the Barns that are common for Gansey are going to stay normal doors. They may not for the other people at the Barns, but for Gansey, that's the 'safe' zone. He could walk through the door of the library and end up somewhere else. Or the other places he visits regularly. (Like the craft store, bookstores, Starkbucks...)

Alternate Gansey:

Gansey's family was killed when he was ten during one of those crazy Gotham villain attempts at taking over the city. This time it was using insects, similar to Gansey's canon death except his parents and his sister, Helen, died. Batman saved Gansey, but only because Gansey managed to get far enough away from the attack that it wasn't as severe for him.

He never blames Batman/Bruce for not saving his family. He knows that it was a miracle that he survived. That can't happen four times in a row even if Batman is in the city.

Bruce knew the Ganseys and knew that Gansey was going to be Traumatized by what happened and no one would understand him or be able to really help. Bruce adopted Gansey, who grew up with his sister (Bruce's daughter) Evie.

I'm working out the details, but Ronan lives in Virginia and meets Gansey at Aglionby. Nothing really changes for him so far except Niall doesn't get murdered.

I think we decided they continue writing letters to each other so no levels of grr?

I meant Bruce is 'grr'ing because of everything going on while Gansey tries to keep everyone calm.

I like the idea of the letters and calls.

OH! Okay. I misunderstood. So Gansey goes back to contain Bruce Grrr's and the boys keep writing and calling each other. Late night conversations. Ronan secretly guesses Gansey's secret, but doesn't tell and doesn't ever try to prove he's right. He definitely doesn't shave his head because Niall doesn't die. Is he still a dreamer? I'm thinking not?

I wasn't very clear.

I like them writing and calling. It gives Gansey someone 'normal' to keep in contact with when part of him still wants normal. I think Ronan would guess coz some nights Gansey would confess little things. Like he's been hurt but he's fine. Which might coincide with something happening in Gotham.

Gansey's going to be so distracted by Ronan's hair. Those Lynch boys and the curly hair and heartbreaker eyes. *siiiiigh*

I think dreamer could be either way. I think Ronan might need a creative outlet.

Maybe yes he's a dreamer, like his father, but Niall doesn't go black market crazy and he doesn't die, but the Barns is still made up of dreams. And Declan can still be broody older brother, with a different mother, but Niall loves his sons. Maybe he's still hard on Declan, just doesn't hate him or anything. Do they spend time at The Barns? Does Gansey live in Monmouth when he's there?

I think Gansey would have Monmouth coz he needed privacy.

I like that Declan has an okay childhood and the murder doesn't happen. Ronan could be happier then.

Ronan would be more like the Ronan we only get hints about in the books. Still wild and a shit, but happier and more open. It occurred to me just now that if Niall doesn't die Ronan doesn't get the BMW so does Niall teach him how to dream his own car or gives him a car for his sixteen birthday and if so (either way) what car would it be? Another BMW?

Happier and more open would help Gansey when he's struggling with the BatFam responsibilities. Ronan would remind him that there's more to life than the night life.

Maybe Niall gives the BMW to Ronan on his birthday. He dreams up a newer model, giving the 'old' one to Ronan?

Whatever he has, it should be a BMW since it's such a part of Ronan's story. I can't imagine him with anything else.

I'm thinking Niall dreams a whole new BMW for Ronan and keeps his own car. Or teaches him how to dream his own BMW so he can make it his own, literally.

He'd remind him there is more fun things to do than run around and get beat up in the nightlife. LOL Racing. More racing. Late night pizza runs. Sitting on a hot car hood and watching the stars. No city lights to block them.

If Gansey keeps his secret of Batfam night life would Ronan keep his dream secret. Except neither of them really have complete secrets from the other, they just never openly admit them, because they're both smart and pay attention to the details of the other?

Evie is absolutely going to want to meet this boy if he ever comes to Gotham. She’s gotta look out for her brother.

I imagine he's going to think he's in Gotham for a moment once his AU persona takes over because the boy lives on a farm in Virginia, not the big city. LOL

Is Evie going to tease him about the boy he sighed over at school? LOL

(Okay, one of the boys. They're all sigh worthy to him.)
