Party Time!
Apr. 12th, 2021 09:45 amCONGRATULATIONS! YOU DID IT! IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE!
End of Winter Celebration: 04/15 to 04/18.
The Unseen have been destroyed entirely! People are no longer ice statues in a memorial garden. In fact, that area has become a park where people run and play and spend time with each other, enjoying the fact that Summer has returned to Driftcrest.
So, what does this mean for all of you? It means that for the last few days, people have been planning and setting up for a party to celebrate the return of loved ones and the end of one hell of a threat to their way of life.
Hammocks are being put up between the trees in the park, menus are being perfected in local restaurants and the whole town is just buzzing with renewed happiness and energy, and it's all thanks to every single person that helped restore Driftcrest.
And for those that have been in Fluxscape the longest, this means the return of the Food Trucks.
No volunteers needed this time, and honestly the food is pretty much free and never-ending.
Just so people know, these are the trucks that seem to be run by residents of Driftcrest:
The Mac Shack will be here for all your customize-able mac and cheese needs. They have several different kinds of cheeses, a few good pasta options and so many various toppings, it's a wonder they fit it all on the truck. Ask nicely and they'll twice bake it for you, topping it off with another handful of cheese before throwing it in the broiler to get it perfect and bubbly.
Pressed not only sells pressed sandwiches of many a variety (there might even be a dessert option or two containing marshmallows, Nutella and strawberries, or a wonderful apple pie version with a flaky biscuit instead of pie crust), but they also sell several kinds of fresh pressed juices including but not limited to:
Apple Juice
Orange Juice
Peach Juice
Watermelon Juice
Mango Juice
For you adults (and even some of the less than legal set because Driftcrest is far too excited to care), you can get a shot of alcohol added to this.
Fire'd Up sells brick-oven pizza on a perfectly crispy-chewy crust. They're all one size, personal size, sadly, but after taking one bite of something that tasty, you might not even want someone to look at your pizza. That's fine. Tell them to get their own, however they want it. Any toppings you can imagine, and then watch them make it, put it in the oven, and then put it in a small box for you within five minutes. Enjoy!
They also have a pizza challenge; ghost-pepper infused pizza sauce, pepperjack cheese and deep-fried habaneros. If you can eat three of these in under ten minutes, you get a t-shirt and $500 bucks. If you don't, your sorry face goes on their Wall of Flames. You have to sign a waver.
Sundae, Yummy Sundae sells...okay, you guessed it. Sundae's. Any variety. Any toppings you want. Any size you want. They also have milkshakes, floats, frozen chocolate dipped bananas. Waffle cones, sugar cones, pretzel cones, ice cream by the scoop. Ice cream by the gallon! Ice cream by the pint. Fried ice cream. Ice cream sandwiches. It's hot in Driftcrest. Ice cream is the best solution for this.
Tacos, Tacos, Tacos has some of the best tacos and nachos around. They're made quickly, however you want them. There are strange and unusual options for those that are used to that kind of thing, there are also the usual options to choose from. Expertly marinated, beef, chicken, fish. They even have a fake meat option, for anyone that doesn't care to eat meat. Their salsa is fresh and spicy, their tortillas hand-made and fried on demand for nachos. They have glass bottle sodas and some of the best dulce de leche around.
Place your order and walk away with three tacos of your choice, a side of guacamole, refried beans and seasoned corn. Find somewhere comfortable to sit, because you're going to need to once you've taken that first bite.
Fun in Funnel Cake is just what it says on the tin. Funnel cake, made to order, with several kinds of batters to choose from. They have banana batter, vanilla, chocolate or strawberry and these can be topped with anything from the standard powdered sugar, to cinnamon and sugar or various pie fillings, whipped cream made on premise and always with a cherry on top.
Baked is where you'll find your gourmet cupcakes. There's no run of the mill, basic cupcake here. No, these ones are clearly made with love. From the batter to the buttercream frosting, these cupcakes are pure magic. There's the snickerdoodle cupcake with it's cinnamon and sugar cream cheese frosting and perfectly fluffy cinnamon cake. Or the strawberry lemonade cupcake with a velvetty strawberry buttercream and lemon cake with hints of lemon zest. Their key lime cupcake has a baked meringue topping and the cake is just the right amount of tart lime flavor.
Whatever kind of gourmet cupcake you can imagine, they probably have.
Poes 'Tatos is where you get your fries, topped with your choice of cheese, and rebaked to perfection. You can also get it topped with bacon, chopped green onions, sour cream or even their homemade chili. Whoever Poe is (and if you ask the current vendor, they'll say Poe retired), they trained their people to make french fries right.
There are also campfires going on at night, and plenty of stuff to make S'mores. Loads of places to sit, and even a vendor selling collapsing hammocks big enough for two. And throughout the festival, there will be various DJs and musicians playing music, a couple places to get your face painted and street performers doing magic tricks, balancing acts and occasionally breathing fire. You'll even be able to buy t-shirts and items to remind you of your time here.
String lights will decorate everywhere, giving the place a lovely, perfect glow when the sun goes down and if you were part of the fight or even one of the people that protected the ice statues, you might get a hug from a random stranger who is so thankful for what you did.
This festival will last a couple days, because Driftcrest has been through hell and they are desperate to make up for lost time and lost happiness.
